The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as sparing festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “6-7” – originating from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently named “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the festive period,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the character of Miami: happy, varied, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Every time, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
