Supporters Urge Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the actress are calling for that a individual who breached a barrier and seized the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared footage depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers proceeded down a event pathway flanked by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the event by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though official papers revealed that he was due to attend court on the following morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile contains recordings of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last year.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is clearly a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user questioned.
Followers Express Concern Over Grande's Safety
Numerous followers accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another response on Instagram.
A number of fans also faulted guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while some requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Event Details
In videos circulating online, Grande appeared startled when she was touched by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Many of attendees had gathered in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual interpretation of the acclaimed theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected friendship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a light pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, winning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
