Renowned Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
American actor Finn, who was seen in beloved television series including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, as reported by media reports.
"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives stated in a statement.
They added that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a regular part on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of well-known programs, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Away from his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat taught, supported, and inspired many learners over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he posted on social media.
