Liverpool Refuses to Alter Attacking Style Despite Current Struggles, Insists Slot

Liverpool's head coach has revealed that the club's hierarchy share his views regarding the team's slump and he will not abandon their forward-thinking philosophy in quest for a solution. The manager conceded that six defeats in seven outings was unacceptable ahead of Saturday's match against Aston Villa.

Pressure Mounting Throughout Difficult Period

Slot accepted the scrutiny was intense before his rotated squad were eliminated from the Carabao Cup against the London club. However, he emphasized that this urgency to stop the losing streak is not coming from the Anfield hierarchy or management structure following a significant spending of nearly £450 million.

"We share common perspectives," stated the manager, whose team next week face Los Blancos in the Champions League and play against Manchester City in the Premier League.

Squad Quality Stays Unquestioned

Slot believes his team "have an unbelievable squad if they are completely available and fully prepared for the schedule ahead". He said that the summer investment in players such as the attacking midfielder and the Swedish striker, who is likely to miss out again against Villa through physical problems, had left the club "in such a good place for the immediate prospects and the distant prospects".

Gelling Difficulties

When pressed on why his team were struggling to integrate, he responded: "That question isn't constructive. 'Why, why, why?' I give an explanation and people say I'm making justifications. I can list five or six reasons why we are not winning as much or experiencing losses as we do but, as I consistently state, there are insufficient justifications to have a run of form as we had now."

  • Even if I could identify multiple factors
  • When you are Liverpool you cannot lose
  • Unfortunately six losses from seven matches

Defensive Statistics

Only Burnley (twenty-one) have allowed more significant openings from normal situations this season than Slot's team (nineteen). The first-place team, the Gunners, have allowed just two. Yet the manager disputes the defense has been too vulnerable and maintains there is no justification to sacrifice his attacking principles for a more pragmatic style after ten fixtures without a shutout.

"I don't see us allowing many opportunities so I don't see a reason to alter our approach entirely but we have to enhance in preventing goals," he stated.

Recent Examples

"When facing United, how many chances did we concede? When playing Frankfurt when we were 3-1 up, we hardly conceded a shot on target. In every match we have played so far we haven't conceded a many opportunities. Definitely not. We do concede a bit more than last season but that has to do with us being behind early so you become more adventurous. But typically I don't think that our problem is that we give up too many openings. Our challenge is we fail to convert the chances we create."
