Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the initial candidates under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his playing career - is considered a strong contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the Wolves board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United midfielder is out of work meaning the club would not need to pay any compensation.
